English is widely spoken by nearly everyone on the island, with the language being so prevalent in Malta – thousands of foreign students travel from across the globe to learn English on the island. English is also the main business language, whilst laws and regulations are published not only in Maltese but also English.

Maltese is a unique language with Arabic and a tiny bit of Italian, English and French words – so a real mix. Many Maltese are multilingual and not only fluent in English, but also in Italian, French and German.

In relation to work visa and living – Malta is a member of the Schengen Zone, which means that the country attracts thousands of professional EU nationals every year, who are free to live and work on the island as they please.
